Welcome to Spexman Anamorphic
Thank you for supporting the Spexman Anamorphic project. Because we are a small, enthusiast-run "mom and pop" shop fabricating custom-made optical equipment, our return and refund policies differ from standard retail stores. By placing an order, you agree to the following terms:
1. Preorders and Reservations All $0 preorders secure your spot in our unlimited sequential queue. A preorder is a reservation, not a final purchase. Scaled fulfillment is estimated to begin in mid-to-late May 2026. You will be emailed an invoice to complete your purchase when your allocation is ready. You may cancel your $0 reservation at any time prior to paying the final invoice.
2. All Sales Are Final Due to the bespoke nature of this production run, all sales are final. Once a lens is paid in full and shipped, we do not accept returns or issue refunds for a "change of mind."
3. Variances and Imperfections The Spexman Anamorphic is an enthusiast-crafted product. As such, there may be some small dust particles inside the barrel and on the lens surfaces; these will not affect optical performance. There may also be some slight imperfections in the extreme peripheral areas of the front lens; these too will not affect performance. Finally, the barrel itself may have some minor imperfections that will not affect performance or integrity.
If there is a genuine quality issue with the lens that demonstrably affects image quality, please let us know within 7 days of confirmed receipt (based on courier tracking). We stand by our product and will do our best to resolve the issue, which may include an authorized return, partial refund, or replacement. We are here for you.
4. Refused Deliveries & Unpaid Customs For international shipments outside of the United States and Canada, buyers are responsible for all local import taxes, VAT, and courier duties (DDU).
If a delivery is refused by the buyer for any reason—including the refusal to pay required customs, tariffs, or brokerage fees—the package will be returned to us. In this event, your refund will be strictly deducted by:

Any additional fees, taxes, or penalties we are required to pay to receive the returned item.
Thank you for securing your place in the Spexman Anamorphic queue. As a bespoke, enthusiast-run production, our fulfillment and shipping processes look a little different than a standard retail store.
1. Fulfillment Timelines
Batch 1 VIPs: Allocations for our initial production run are actively being fulfilled in early 2026.
Public Preorders: All $0 preorders secure your spot in our unlimited, sequential production queue. We are currently scaling up our manufacturing capabilities and expect scaled fulfillment for the preorder queue to begin rapidly in mid-to-late May 2026. You are not purchasing a lens today; you will be emailed a secure link to complete your payment and enter your final shipping details when your specific lens is ready.
2. Shipping Carriers & Signature Requirement We primarily utilize Canada Post for our international and domestic shipping. However, we reserve the right to use other trusted private couriers (such as UPS, DHL, or FedEx) at our sole discretion if we determine they will provide a safer, faster, or more reliable delivery experience to your specific location.
To ensure the safe and secure arrival of your premium optics, all shipping is sent with tracking. You can expect your order to be updated with tracking within a few days of placing it (with the exception of batch 1, where manufacturing is happening while shipping, and may push back some orders). All Batch 1 orders may require a 2 week lead time for final assembly and QA inspection before shipping.
3. Duties, Taxes, and Customs Because we are shipping globally from Canada, customs rules vary depending on your location:
United States Customers (DDP): All required import tariffs and duties are calculated and collected upfront at checkout. Your package will be sent Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) to ensure a seamless, surprise-free delivery directly to your door.
International Customers / Rest of World (DDU): All other international destinations are shipped Delivered Duty Unpaid (DDU). You are strictly responsible for paying any import taxes, local VAT, and duties to the courier upon delivery. We highly recommend checking with your local customs office to estimate these costs before completing your final invoice.
4. Refused Deliveries Please be aware that if a shipment is returned to us because delivery was refused—including a refusal to pay the required international customs or duties upon arrival—your refund will be significantly penalized. As outlined in our Refund Policy, we will deduct the original shipping cost, the courier's return shipping cost, a $200 USD restocking fee, and any other fees we are legally required to pay to receive the returned item.

Technical Disclosure: Chromatic Aberration (CA)
PLEASE READ: Full Transparency - the Spexman exhibits minor chromatic aberration in the periphery. Chromatic aberration(CA) is an optical aberration that results from the fact that as white light passes through an optical medium, different wavelengths of light are refracted (or bent) differently, resulting in colour fringing. CA is very hard to control in the periphery in an anamorphic lens as it sits farther down the light path where the image is diverging. Because of this, more extreme peripheral areas of the lens are used, and that amplifies CA. We are aware of this and have tried to be as transparent as possible about it, purposely making mention of chromatic aberration in our thread many months ago: https://www.avsforum.com/posts/64383983/
We have also posted similar and expanded commentary on CA on the FAQ on the spexman.ca website--again, in attempts to be fully transparent. We realize there will be some colour fringing on white on black in the periphery(like test patterns and Menu icons). However, during all the actual 2.39:1 content we have watched, we did not notice the fringing coming into play. Controlling all aberrations in optical design is a very difficult thing--the reason, for example, why things like distortion(barrel/pincushion) have been historically so hard to mitigate. It is so, so difficult to control them all successfully, without sacrificing some aspect of the image quality. We have tried within our means and budget to achieve the best image quality possible by selectively reducing those aberrations that would be more noticeable during 2.39:1 content viewing.
